American Linden Tree

Bundle of leaves, twigs & bark for naturally dyeing.

Linden flowers are used in herbalism for colds, cough, fever, infections, inflammation, high blood pressure, headache (particularly migraine), and as a diuretic (increases urine production). New evidence shows that the flowers may be hepatoprotective. The wood is used for liver and gallbladder disorders and cellulitis (inflammation of the skin and surrounding soft tissue).

So what do you do when you like to dye wool and it is raining outside? You dye wool . . . at least that's what Two Crows Dyed like's to do.

Today, TCD plans on doing some natural dyeing. Birch bark was harvested from a fallen tree that has been decomposing on the forest floor for sometime & Queen Anne's Lace (wild carrot) a wild, edible and nutritious plant. The bark and flowers will soon be turned into a dye bath.

Bundle of Birch Bark, Queen Anne's lace & couple other native wild flowers.
Note: It is possible to harvest birch bark from a living tree at the right time of year without hurting the tree. I personally prefer to collect all my bark from trees that are damaged beyond repair or have  fallen by either mother nature or a mechanical means (i.e. cut down for what ever reason).

And here it is . . .
